Paris Whitney Hilton & Carter Milliken Reum Married
It’s official: Paris Hilton is married! The entrepreneur and reality TV star wed venture capitalist Carter Reum at the former Bel Air estate of the bride’s late grandfather Barron Hilton, the successor to hotelier Conrad Hilton.
“Carter and I have been friends for over 15 years,” Paris says of how she and her now husband first got together. “We stayed in each other’s lives over time, and we reconnected at a Thanksgiving get-together in 2019. From that night, I felt the spark, and the rest is history.”
The two became engaged when Carter surprised Paris with a joint birthday vacation at a private island back in February. “That day, we had a photoshoot planned by the beach, and instead he proposed,” Paris recalls. “It was so romantic! All of my closest family and friends surprised me, too, and flew out for the moment.” Carter proposed with a ring designed by Jean Dousset, the great-grandson of Louis Cartier. The emerald-cut diamond was inspired by classic Art Nouveau aesthetics and the vaulted glass ceiling of the Grand Palais.
In October, the couple held their bachelorette and bachelor parties together in Las Vegas. An Alice in Wonderland–themed bridal shower followed, hosted by Paris’s mother, Kathy Hilton; her sister, Nicky Hilton Rothschild; and her close friend Tina Chen Craig.
Hilton, 40, walked down the aisle to Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling in Love," and Kim Petras kicked off the ceremony with a cover of Hilton's own song, "Stars Are Blind."
Both Reum and Hilton read their own vows and Reum frequently leaned in to kiss his bride during the ceremony. At the end, they walked out as husband and wife to Pharrell Williams' "Happy," played by a string quartet.
During the reception, Demi Lovato performed for the newlyweds, singing a rendition of "I Will Always Love You" that got a standing ovation from the crowd.
Guests dined on appetizers that included a caviar station, tuna tartare and oysters Rockefeller — torched to order. The first course was an Asian pear salad and butternut squash tortellini and the main options were a potato encrusted sea bass, grilled New York steak or grilled eggplant.
Throughout the night, they sipped Moët & Chandon champagne and heard speeches from Nicky, Courtney, Steve Wynn, Hilton's dad Richard Hilton, and more. As the evening wore on, they enjoyed late-night bites like grilled cheese, pigs in a blanket, and peanut butter and jelly macarons.
The 6 ft. tall cake was white with a crown on top that matched the box the wedding invitations came in.
Carter, along with his brother Courtney Reum, co-founded M13, “a brand development and investment company accelerating businesses at the nexus of consumer products, technology, and media,” according to Medium. Carter, at age 25, was “bored with his drinking experience” and co-created VEEV, a premium spirits company that was acquired by Luxco in 2016. VEEV Spirits is a vodka brand that was both the first liquor made with acai and the first to be created in a substantial facility. With the sale of VEEV, they built up M13, their investment firm, and it was reported in 2016 that the company was syndicating $100 million in investments into dozens of startups.
Carter and Courtney’s father was W. Robert Reum, a prominent business executive who was also involved in Chicago civic affairs and philanthropy. He passed away on February 4, 2017. That October, Carter and Courtney penned a loving tribute to him. “Our Dad has many incredible qualities: his love, his drive, his athleticism, his sense of humor, his intellect, and the list goes on. However, he has one secret weapon quality that you can’t teach: common sense. I know that this might not be exciting, but it’s arguably one of the most under-appreciated traits for a leader and human being,” the wrote, intentionally referring to their late father in the present tense.
